FAT PADS

Loss of subcutaneous fat: Over time, the layer of fat underneath the skin begins to thin out. This can result in a decrease in volume and fullness in the face, leading to a more gaunt or hollow appearance.

Bone resorption: With age, the bones in the face can undergo a process called resorption, where they gradually lose density and volume. This can cause a loss of structural support for the fat pads, contributing to their decrease.

Collagen and elastin degradation: Collagen and elastin are skin proteins responsible for maintaining firmness and elasticity. As individuals age, these proteins degrade, leading to sagging and a loss of overall facial volume.

Hormonal changes: Hormonal fluctuations, particularly a decline in estrogen levels in women during menopause, can contribute to fat redistribution and loss of volume in the face.

Effects of gravity: As gravity pulls downwards, it can cause the fat pads in the face to gradually descend. This can result in a loss of fullness in the cheeks and temples, leading to a more flattened appearance.

While it's not possible to directly plump fat pads in the face through massage alone, there are techniques that can help improve blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, and overall skin health, which may indirectly enhance the appearance of fat pads

The decrease in fat pads in the face commonly leads to prominent signs of aging, including the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, and hollowed areas. These changes can vary between individuals and may be influenced by genetics, lifestyle factors, and overall health.

Heres how you can help:

  1. Get consistent with Facials from a professional who specializes in various facial massage techniques

  2. Use massage techniques to improve blood circulation.

  3. Gently tap your fingers all over your face to stimulate blood flow.

  4. You can also use your fingertips to perform circular motions on your cheeks and temples. This helps bring more nutrients to the skin and may potentially support the fat pads in the long run.

  5. Honey tapping is an easy and effective way to stimulate blood flow along with provifing the humectant and anti microbial benefits

Apply warm honey to areas of the face, wet fingers with water and massage in...then tap! Use the pads of your fingers not the ends

  1. Perform lymphatic drainage.

Lymphatic drainage focuses on flushing out toxins and reducing swelling. Use your fingertips to gently press down and stroke along your neck, jawline, and cheeks.

Follow the natural direction of lymph flow, which is towards the collarbone and out towards the ear.

No oil or balm is needed, dry skin is best

Remember to ALWAYS open the neck area first!

light stretching movements ..not massage!

  1. Utilize facial exercises. While not classified as massage, facial exercises can promote muscle toning and, in turn, may enhance the appearance of fat pads.

Examples include puffing your cheeks, smiling widely, making the "O" face, moving your jaw in a chewing motion. Always be gentle and avoid excessive or forceful movements.

  1. Facial Cupping, Gua Sha and Face Yoga are all examples of facial exercises

  2. Frequency and duration. Consistency is key for achieving potential results. Aim to massage your face for a few minutes each day, ideally adding it to your skincare routine.

Remember, results may vary from person to person, and it's important to have realistic expectations.
